The director is planning to make two films with the Parineeta actress

VIDYA BALAN is to act in Rituparno Ghosh’s film, possibly in Bengali. The Parineeta actress was recently in Kolkata to feature in a very popular celebrity show anchored by the National Award-winning director.

Balan has fond memories of the city where she made her debut as the leading lady in Gautam Haldar’s Bengali film Bhalo Theko. Her lines in the film were dubbed but her performance in a low-key role was remarkable.

Vidya reminisces, “Gautamda had sent me the complete script and an audiocassette of the dialogues. I read the script over and over again to imbibe the essence of the character. By the time I came down for the shoot, I was ready. Soumitrada (Chatterjee) was extremely helpful.”

“Vidya has a classical Indian face like Nutan, Waheeda Rehman and Tanuja. I will start shooting my film with Vidya the minute she manages an empty slot from her busy schedule,” says Ghosh. He plans to make two films with Balan but is not sure which one he will begin first.

Working with Rituparno Ghosh has been on the anvil for a long time but nothing came of it till now because she was too busy and could not find any empty slot.
