I didn’t want to Kiss Vidya Balan

It’s no co-incidence that Madhavan’s first screen kiss is for his mentor Mani Rathnam’s Guru.

The surprise is that it should have been with an actress who has a very propah image…Vidya Balan!

Even more surprisingly, Mani Rathnam for whom Maddy broke his no-kissing code of conduct has given his protégé the briefest role of his career.

Laughs Maddy, “That’s okay..I did it with my eyes open…I mean the film, not the kiss,” laughs Maddy from Toronto where Guru was premiered at the posh Elgin theatre. “The response here has been overwhelming,” he enthuses.

And Maddy? “Well, even my wife Sarita thinks I’ve a small role. But what the heck! I did it for my mentor. As for the kiss, I did exactly what was in the script.”

Hadn’t he promised his wife he’s never kiss any of his heroines on screen? “Well…that’s okay. She saw the kiss and liked it. You can’t say no to Mani. And frankly I didn’t want to. There’re some things one has to do.”

Was he uncomfortable doing it? “Well I’m not a seasoned screen kisser. But I’m an actor. I’m supposed to do what I’m asked to.”

Vidya Balan and Madhavan in Deepa Mehta’s next

The two talented actors will come together once again for Canada-based director Deepa Mehta’s next flick.

The superb chemistry between Vidya Balan and Madhavan was for all to see in Mani Ratnam’s movie Guru . But even before ‘Guru’ made it to the theatres, Deepa Mehta had been writing a script with Vidya and Madhavan in her mind for the lead roles.

The movie will be a satirical comedy called Stella . It will have Vidya playing a wacky housemaid.

Deepa Mehta says making her Oscar-nominated movie ‘Water’ drained so much energy out of her that now she needs to make a feelgood entertainer to re-energize herself.

Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan paired up!

Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan singed up together for Bhushan Kumar’s next. Priyadarshan will direct the movie. The yet-to-title movie will also star Amisha Patel, Shiney Ahuja, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav in the leads.
There was a buzz that the film has been tentatively titled ‘Chandramukhi’. Bhushan Kumar however denied the rumour saying, “It’s not true. We have yet to settle for an apt title.”
The film will expectedly go on floor in February end this year.

Eklavya to premiere at GIFA

There is a buzz that Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Eklavya starring Amitabh Bachchan might be premiered at the Global Indian Film Awards (GIFA) this year. However, when we called up Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s office, their spokesperson said, “An offer has been made to us by GIFA to premiere Eklavya at their show, but nothing has been finalized yet.
